Mia Savage Kwok is a Dutch-Chinese painter whose work explores the beauty and strangeness of organic forms — figures, flora, and fauna arranged in compositions that move fluidly between surrealism and realism. Born and raised in Hong Kong, she studied Studio Art and Art History at Mount Holyoke College before living and working in Boston, New York City, and Los Angeles. Her influences span 1990s Hong Kong cinema, European painting, and the artistic traditions of both East and West. Since relocating to San Diego County in 2017, she has found in the region's light and color the conditions for her practice to flourish. Her work is held in private collections and has appeared in publications and on book covers. She exhibits regularly across San Diego County, with solo exhibitions at Thumbprint Gallery in La Jolla and ongoing shows Distinction Gallery in Escondido. She serves as Associate Director of Oolong Gallery, with spaces in Rancho Santa Fe and Tribeca, New York.
